If you have been on tiktok lately you may have seen the latest Moon Phase Trend. According to the trend, if your birth moons make a "perfect" full moon, it means you are your partner are perfect soulmates!
While this trend is super fun its not 100% valid, and thats because your "soulmate" compatibility has a lot more to do with you moon sign and your entire chart as a whole. Its not as simple as making a full moon with your lunar phases.
Different between lunar phase and moon sign
Four main moon phases and four secondary moon phases make up the eight lunar phases. The sign linked with each phase varies from month to month because there are 12 signs and only eight phases in astrology. As a result, these do not directly correspond to the moon signs.
The lunar phases are New Moon, Waxing crescent, First-quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Third-Quarter, & Waning Crescent.
Your moon sign is where the moon was in the sky at the moment you were born. Your moon sign is one of the most significant placements in a birth chart. (Hence why some people call that trio your "big three.") Our moon placement rules our emotions, intuition, and our personal inner worlds. Its who we are in our most intimate settings, such as our homes or relationships.
The moon facilitates our ability to love others—in other words its our love language—but it also serves as a mirror or guide for how we can love ourselves. It has to do with both receiving and giving affection.
Moon Sign Compatibility
It's important to note that when its comes to compatibly in astrology there is some much to consider. Taking both people's full birth charts into consideration is key. With that said, there can be benefits to having the same moon sign as your partner because you'll intuitively understand each other's emotional needs. Having the same element (water, fire, air, and earth) can also work. If you have the same moon sign or elemental moon sign as your partner (both having water sign moons for example) it's easier to understand each other's emotions.
