How to Properly Wash Your Body (and how to use this time for intention setting)

A shower is a great place to set intentions while cleansing your body, for over 8 years now I have used every shower to manifest so I consider myself and expert on the topic.

Why the shower is the perfect place for manifesting

One element I find essential for manifesting, is for it to be absolutely honest and true. A shower allows us to enter into a state of vulnerability – what could be more vulnerable than our naked bodies being cleansed in a ritual of self care.

This is a time when we are often alone, in a room of silence where all we can hear is the soft sound of the trickling water of the shower head. Using your chosen soap think of your dreams, your goals, your future. During your shower visualize the water cleansing your energy. Once you see what you want shift your focus to all that is standing in your way. Allow yourself to release any fears, bad energy from your body and imagine it following down your body and into the drain. Now allow your spirit to fill you up with the feeling of your desired manifestation.

This ritual is powerful because you are able to see and feel the energy cleanse off your body and out of your shower. Once you are down take a moment of gratitude for all in your life and for the service of this water source.

How to properly cleanse your body

While you are doing this ritual, you may be wondering if you are cleansing your body properly. It’s no mystery that most of us take a shower or bath to wash our skin. Its important to use soap every-time you shower with a focus on the armpits and groin area. Soap is formulated to get rid of any dirt and allergens that have accumulated on your skin.

Unless you have specific skin concerns, all you really need to clean your body is water and your favorite soap. Unfortunately, in the process it also removes some of the body’s natural oils, bacteria, viruses, fungi, and dead skin cells that always live on our skin—even after washing. After each shower apply your favorite body oil to lock in moisture and clean your skin hydrated.

How often should you shower?

While there is no ideal frequency, experts suggest that showering several times per week is plenty for most people (unless you are grimy, sweaty, or have other reasons to shower more often). Short showers (lasting three or four minutes) with a focus on the armpits and groin may suffice.

Overcleaning your body could be making your skin drier than it would be with less frequent showering. This is not a public health menace. However, daily showers do not improve your health, could cause skin problems or other health issues — and, importantly, they waste a lot of water.
